PayPal Goods & Services – Everything You Need to Know

With almost everything on the Internet nowadays, payment methods like PayPal have revolutionized our personal and business transactions. Signing up for a PayPal account is free. You can immediately have an active account as long as you provide a working email and some identification documents. In this article, we will be talking about the PayPal Goods and Services Feature and how you can manage your incoming funds as a common buyer or as business owners.

PayPal doesn’t charge you a fee when you use your account to receive money from your family and friend within the same country. However, if you use PayPal to pay for goods and services, you will be charged a small percentage!

What is the PayPal Goods and Services Feature?

The PayPal Goods and Services feature is about using PayPal to send, receive, and pay with funds. This covers all the methods of how money is being distributed within the platform across PayPal accounts. Two types of payments exist within PayPal. These include the following modes:

  • Goods – This refers to items that are not bought from eBay and other merchants. But this still represents a physical and tangible product that you can buy.
  • Services – This refers to intangible stuff like works performed by other people for you. This includes but is not limited to writing, SEO, web management, etc.

All of these have a corresponding fee when you process them through PayPal. Note that as uncomfortable as you are for PayPal’s way of business, remember that they are always a business entity. To thrive and continue these types of services, they need to find a way to profit from our end. We use their services and products, and we pay them for it.

How to Use PayPal Goods and Services

Using the PayPal goods and services feature is easy. All you need is an active PayPal account. Also, it would be best to get your account verified to lift off the withdrawal limit.

In case you do not know yet, PayPal will allow a basic and personal account to receive money without limits. But when it comes to funds withdrawal, you can only transfer money from your account to your bank account or other external recipients for a limited amount.

Getting your account verified on PayPal will be very beneficial for you. This is true, especially if you plan to charge for goods and services using PayPal as a payment method. We’re not talking about a business account. Just a simple PayPal premier account type will suffice.

Or you can see it on the summary of your activities on your account’s main dashboard. Right there, it will appear as Pending until the recipient responds or approved your requested amount of money.

Requested Payment on Pending

This is probably one of my favorite features of PayPal. It is easy, quick, and comprehensive. But still, you know that you are safe and protected despite the simplicity.

Here’s a reminder for you. When typing for your recipient’s email address, make sure always to double-check the spelling first. You wouldn’t want your money going to the wrong person.

Conclusion

It’s simple to use PayPal’s goods and services feature. All you need is a PayPal account that is current. It’s also a good idea to get your account verified in order to remove the withdrawal restriction. This is definitely one of PayPal’s best features. It’s simple, quick, and thorough.

  1. I’ve used Authorize.net for years as well, with varying degrees of success – they haven’t gone downhill in terms of quality. PayPal is more useful than a credit card processor, but there’s no substitute for a credit card processor. A credit card processor is more or less dead simple enough to be useful for a small business (it’s hard to tell how much you’ve actually gotten paid through this service) without any pain.

What I really like about PayPal (and other similar service providers) is that they are open to you – and you have the opportunity to do a bit more work.

  2. This feels good to me! I was looking for something to do some business with (small and medium business) and am currently working with a startup on an international scale where credit cards cost a fortune each year and I can see a potential customer here and there, but I haven’t looked into Paypal to determine the legalities yet. Anyone know of something that would allow a payment processor to provide this type of service, I assume it’d be possible for them to partner with a bank to set up a payment system for a certain percentage of businesses that want it to work.
