How to cancel pending PayPal payment
If you made a payment by mistake and it is still pending, you still have a chance to revoke it. Here is a step-by-step guide to cancel pending payments on PayPal.
-
First, you need to go to the official PayPal website or Paypal app. Enter your username and password to login into your PayPal Account.
-
You will find the “Activity’ tab on the top of the Paypal website or the PayPal app. Click on that.
-
Then click on the ‘All Activity’ menu (drop-down), which you will find on the left-hand side of the screen at the top.
-
Click on the ‘Payment Sent’ option from there. You can filter the transactions using time and date. Click on the payment – a transaction that you want to open.
-
Once the payment transaction is open, you can now click on the ‘Cancel’ button. All the details of the payment will be then shown on your screen. Review the information and then click on the Cancel button to confirm the canceling of the transaction.
Once you finish the steps mentioned above, your pending payment will be canceled. The process of canceling payments is only applicable to the ‘Pending Payments!
These will be the vendor’s unclaimed payments and listed under the ‘Pending payment’ section on PayPal. You cannot cancel any payment which has been completed. For completed payments, you need to request a refund.
NOTE:
Remember that you can only cancel an unclaimed payment that has a “Cancel” link next to it. And if the payment has not cleared your bank yet, you can wait for 3-4 business days for the money to appear in your balance.
Conclusion
You can, for the most part, cancel payments that are in a pending or unclaimed status. These payments will have a status of ‘Unclaimed’ and appear in the ‘Pending’ segment of your PayPal account. This does not apply to a request you might want to drop if you don’t mind, contact the merchant to talk about choices for an application of refund and cancellation of payments.
